Marie, a 17-year-old Czech girl, was promised to the son of a neighboring landowner. However, her heart was captivated by Piero di Gardi, a young Austrian officer. Their love story unfolded through handwritten letters, with Marie pouring her feelings onto small pieces of paper and the young officer reciprocating his love.
Tragically, during the battle of Galicia in the summer of 1914, a stray bullet ended the young officer's life. Marie stowed her last unfinished letter, along with a bundle of letters from her beloved officer, into a military wooden chest in the attic. There, it remained hidden for 87 long years.
During the renovation of the old house where Marie once lived, love letters full of desire and passion were discovered. The story they told became the inspiration for the art design of the Piero di Gardi wine label. The label features excerpts from the young lovers' letters and rolls of paper with secret messages, symbolizing their enduring connection.
The creator of the wine label is the granddaughter of the young Czech girl, ensuring that the artwork truly represents the joining of two beautiful souls. Although their fate was not in their favor, their story lives on through this unique and heartfelt design.
The Piero di Gardi wine label stands out from its competitors with its design of handwritten manuscripts and rolls of paper, evoking the essence of love letters. This distinctive concept, supported by a believable story from the beginning of World War One, resonates with customers and influences their decision-making process.
The labels are produced using FLEXO technology, with UV colors that are hardened by UV light. The material used is ITALK.K.80, a one-sided printed paper with a shiny surface modification and moisture-resistant glue suitable for wine labels. The labels are also coated with a matt lacquer for added durability.
Measuring 135mm in length and 50mm in height, the Piero di Gardi wine label is a testament to the power of love and the enduring nature of romance. It has garnered recognition in the design world, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2015 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach.
Experience the timeless beauty and captivating story of Piero di Gardi through this exquisite wine label, a true testament to the power of love and the art of design.
